Robert Hatfield (Bob) Saunders of Petitcodiac passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010 in his eightieth year, at the Moncton Hospital with his family at his side following a brief illness. Born in Glenvale, N.B., he was a son of the late Adolphus and Edith (Keiller) Saunders. Robert operated a family dairy farm for many years with his son David and was a beloved school bus driver in the Petitcodiac area for 39 years. He was an active member and Past President of the Petitcodiac Kiwanis Club, Past President and Director of the Westmorland County Fair, volunteer with the St. John Ambulance for many years and a member, trustee and former choir member of the Petitcodiac Baptist Church. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 56 years Bertha (Cain); their children David (Lorrie), Debbie, Allan (Susan), Mike (Marlene), Susan (Mark), Peter (June), Brian (Jen); cherished grandchildren Lynn, Beth Kelly (Gus), Sheena, Colby, Colin, Shallon (Kolby), Sheri-Lee Shee (Jeff), Mikee (Kate), Matthew (Rachel), Kayla, Skyler and a great granddaughter Lily Jean. Survived also by sisters Jean Irving (James), Saint John, Lois Nugent (late Joe), Dartmouth, sister in law Sylvia Saunders, Petitcodiac; several nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his brother Allan and son-in-law Greg Ogilvie.
Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral will be held from the Petitcodiac Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 10 at 11 a.m. with Rev.
