" FAREWELL TO A STORM BOAT KING"

George Edward King, Sept. 7, 1915 - Aug. 10, 2010. George died in the Oakville Hospital after a brief illness. His wife, Essie and daughters, Joan and Shirley were with him. He is survived also by his loving grandchildren Morgan, Harrison and Elizabeth, brother, Douglas, loyal nephew Bob MacKenzie, and son-in-laws Arthur and Bruce. George was born and raised in Truro, Nova Scotia, but came to Oakville, Ont. in 1952 establishing himself as a house builder breaking ground in emerging neighborhoods in Oakville. George, a W.W. II Veteran, served four years with the 23rd Field Company RCE. George is profiled in the book "The Storm Boat Kings", a chronicle of the siege and rescue of Operation Market Garden at Arnhem, 1944.To those who knew George he was a humble man who took great pride in his work as a master carpenter and lending a willing hand, using his talent and skills there was never a problem that he would not tackle. Morgan, Harrison and Elizabeth knew him as Poppa and will always cherish his quick dry humor. Essie, Joan and Shirley will inter George's cremated remains at the Truro, Cemetery, Truro, Nova Scotia, Monday, August 16, 2010. Expressions of appreciation for gentle, respectful palliative care are extended to the Nurses of 4 West and "Nurse Next Door". Thank you to his direct caregivers at Wyndham Manor.
