John Jensen

JENSEN - John of Webb passed away peacefully August 19, 2010, at the Palliser with family by his side. John was born June 10, 1946, to Peter and Mary (Wall) Jensen. He had three older sisters, Ella, Edna and Norma. Growing up fixing bikes and building go carts were his hobbies. He had his first car when he was 14 - a 1929 Chev that he chopped off and later regretted as he wished he had it in its original form. A future in mechanics seemed inevitable. He quit school in grade 11 to farm with his dad. On October 28, 1968, he married barb Sorenson. In 1970, they welcomed their first son, Steve, and in 1980, their chosen son, Kris. In 1979, John and Barb's three brothers (Wayne, Garry and Arnold) started J-WAG Construction. John started buying trucks from the Department of Highways and attending auction sales, which started people calling him Johnnie's Junk. This eventually turned into Jensen's Auto Salvage now operated by his son, Kris. They sold most of their farmland to the hutterites and moved their house to town in 1989. Junk and custom farm work became his life. After Barb's passing in 1991, Eunice Pickett became his life partner. There wasn't an auction John ever missed if he could help it. He was always there, go cup in hand, ready for the party in the way home. John also loved water and boating and spent many days down at Cozy Cove. A celebration of life was held at the Webb Hall on August 21.
