SLOAN, Tanner Foster
June 12, 2004 - August 14, 2010
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our son Tanner. Tanner passed away suddenly and tragically in Tompkins, SK, on August 14, 2010, at the tender age of 6. Tanner was born June 12, 2004, in Swift Current, SK, to Les and Tammy Sloan. Tanner filled his short life with many adventures, living every minute of every day to the fullest. He awoke early, played hard, and argued bed every night, claiming he still had stuff to do. Tanner's love of life, nature, and people captivated almost every person he met, and he always seemed to leave a lasting impression. He loved to be outside, capturing insects, rescuing baby birds, playing and riding his bike with friends, or using his huge imagination to go on hunting adventures. Tanner spent many hours hanging out with his Dad; riding his pony to check cows, hunting gophers, fishing, swimming in the dug out and riding on the tractor. Tanner was very protective of his little sister, Brenna, and loved her very much despite of the fact that she so consistently "knocked down his corrals, and zoo cages". Tanner's ability to see the good in everything, and his kindness, and affectionate nature, made his Mom so very proud of him. Tanner had a special bond with his Uncle Craig, and loved to spend time with him, always coming home with colorful tales of their time together. Tanner will be extremely missed by his Mom and Dad, Tammy and Les, sister, Brenna, Grandma's Brenda Todd and Patty Sloan, Grandpa, Rae Sloan, Uncle Craig and Auntie Krista Todd, Auntie Elisa (Todd) Uncle Trevor and cousin Keirstyn Labrie, Auntie Janine Sloan and Greg Parsons, Great Grandparents Dick and Edith Todd and Pat Ellis, as well as many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Tanner was predeceased by his Papa Russell Todd, cousins Riley Peterson and Tyler Spagrud. A beautiful funeral service was held Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at the Tompkins Community Center, with Rev Eleanor Rockabar officiating. Pallbearers were Uncle Craig Todd, Uncle Trevor Labrie, "Big Tyler" (Martens), and "Pickle" (Dylan McGregor). Ushers were Ron Wedrick and Randy Rockabar. The eulogy was read by Auntie Rita Peterson, poems read by: Melissa Houston, Aunt Peg Frey, and Auntie's Elisa and Janine. A power point presentation done by Auntie Elisa highlighted Tanners life. Binkleys Funeral Home was in care of the arrangements. In memory of Tanner, a donation to the Tompkins Skating Rink or the Tompkins Playground would be appreciated by the family.
