It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kenneth 'Ken' Howard MacKenzie on Monday, Aug. 23, 2010 at the Hamilton General Hospital.
Beloved husband for over 53 years to Ruth (nee Ross). Adored and adoring father to Calvin (Tracey), Ken (Kim) and Ross (Judy). 'Fun Papa' of Wesley, Steven, and Matthew. Beloved brother of Hector (late Florence) of Millville, Donald (late Emily) of Hunter's Mountain, and Duncan (Rae) of Hamilton. Dear brother-in-law of Carrie MacKenzie, Patricia, Marion (Pat) Cooper, Ron (Alda) Ross, and Grace (Harry) Cybulskie. Beloved uncle to many nephews and nieces.
Youngest son of the late Daniel and Annie Mae (nee MacDermid). Predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Agnes and Roderick MacKillop, Mary and Archie MacAulay, Murdoch and Catherine, Robert (Bob) and Ken's twin brother, Harold.
Born Oct. 4, 1935 in Millville, Cape Breton, he came to search for his fame and fortune in Southern Ontario in his teens. He had over 40 years experience working in Tucketts/Imperial Tobacco where he made many, many friends. Time spent at his trailer with his sons, their partners, his grandchildren and his friends gave him an audience for his many jokes, eager mouths for his great cooking and brought much quality to his life.
He was blessed with a beautiful voice that he shared with all, at any and all occasions.
The family received friends at the L.G. Wallace Funeral Home, 151 Ottawa Street North (905-544-1147). A service was held in the memorial chapel on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #58 (Barton Street).
"We are thankful unto God for Ken being in our lives - we are better people for having known him."
