AITKEN - Jean Margaret Aitken (Tovey) passed away peacefully on August 27, 2010, at the Special Care Centre in Gull Lake, SK, at the age of 96 years. Jean was born in Unity, SK, on April 14, 1914, to Albert and Florence Tovey. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth Ann Meyers, Thomas Malcolm Aitken and Lennie Neufeld (Gordon). Jean also leaves nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren: DeeAnn (Soren) Bredgaard, Oliver and Benjamin, Rebecca (Mark) Donaldson, Luke and Brooke, Rhett Meyers; Rhonda (Doug) Phibbs, Brock and Bo, A.J. (Rachel) Aitken, Eliza and Ian, Lena (Mark) Aitken-Ham, Drew, Gwen and Nate, Amy Aitken; Janine (Rob) Ruetz and Paul Neufeld; sister, Bette Dempster (Jack); sisters-in-law Jean Mackey and Roberta Aitken; six nieces and nephews; and family friend Donna Bourgoin. Jean was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, three brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, great granddaughter Natalie Aitken, and her husband of 60 years, Albert Lawrence (Larry) Aitken. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Gull Lake Special Care Centre staff who became Mom's friends. Everyone loved her for her kindness, amazing memory and her wonderful sense of humor. A private graveside service will be held at Swift Current Memory Gardens with Jill Cavanagh officiating. Warren's Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gull Lake Special Care Centre Auxiliary Fund, Box 539, Gull Lake, SK, S0N 1A0, would be appreciated.
