Robin Beatteay

Robin Beatteay

It is with sadness that it is announced, surrounded by family and with her usual grace and dignity, family matriarch Robin left us to join her husband William. Born November 3, 1920 in Portslade-by-Sea, England, she was the daughter of Richard Sherwood and Katie (nee Edwards). She was the proud War Bride of William R. Beatteay (Bill). Robin served in the ATS in England during WW II, Rank of Sgt. Major. Upon immigration to the colonies, she began a lifelong involvement in the Girl Guide movement as Brown Owl, Girl Leader and Commissioner, receiving the movement's highest honour, the Beaver Award, in recognition of her contributions. Robin was devoted to her family and all their endeavours, always within earshot of the action. She was Past President of the British Empire Service League Canadian Legion Fundy NB # 68 1952-53, a member of the Eastern Star, avid camper and arts and crafts guru. Robin was always quick to lend a hand to anyone in need and a master of improvising. Her true loves were her husband, family and life. Robin is predeceased by her husband Bill, parents, brothers Richard, Donald, Norman, sisters Eileen and Kathleen, all of England and daughter Kathleen (Dale Alexander). She is survived by daughter Lynn, sons Richard (Phyllis), Stephen (Roxanne) and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. An avid outdoors person, no leaf or flower went unpreserved. Her passion, optimism and warmth will be missed by all who knew her. Special thanks go out to the staff of Hopewell Court, Rocmaura Nursing Home and the Palliative Care Unit for the exceptional care given at all times during her stay.
