Mildred (Delaney) MacGillivray, 87, of Steelworkers Lane, Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at the residence.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Christena (Cameron) Poulain.
She was a member of St. Theresa parish, Sydney and a former longtime member of the parish CWL.
She was also a member of Club 55 and Sydney Steelworkers Pensioners Club. Millie was a very active member of the ladies auxiliary Branch 12 Royal Canadian Legion, Sydney.
She had been employed at the general office as well as Zellers.
She is survived by four sons, Frank (Ruth), Cliff (Vincey), both of Sydney, Brian (Tina), Gary (Lori), both of Halifax; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Clynch, Oshawa, Ont., Mrs. Isabel Strang, Sydney; seven grandchildren, Matthew, David, Jonathan, Paige, Robyn, Kaitlyn, Colin; and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
Millie was predeceased by her first husband, Clifford Delaney in 1977 and her second husband, Jim MacGillivray in 1987, by sons, Kevin and Stephen, a brother, George and a sister, Betty.
Mrs. MacGillivray will have visitation at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at St. Theresa's Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Alzheimer Society.
