MITCHELL, Muriel - died in London, UK at 8:30 p.m. October 18, 2010. She was born on October 4, 1924 and she grew up in Elgin, Scotland and after her education she settled in London where she worked first in the film industry and later at the Royal Society of Medicine. She helped to organize the British Voice Association and after her retirement, she volunteered as a docent at Somerset House and she enjoyed helping her friend Jeanne take care of the gardens at the block of flats where she lived in St. John's Wood Road. For more than a decade she visited her great friend Paul Massie in Eagle Head yearly and developed a circle of friends in Nova Scotia with whom she was very popular. In her last illness she was devotedly cared for by her flat mate and friend of long standing, Bryan Larkin. She was an only child and leaves little family but she was very fond of her cousins, especially Norma and Ian Spence and their family. She will be much missed by them and her friends Marjorie Belli, Bryan Larkin, Paul Massie and many more. She was a person who loved and supported her Queen and the Royal Family. Her poise and slim sartorial elegance distinguished her where ever she went. She was so constituted that she was sufficiently free from her personal needs that she could appreciate and care for those around her. She was much loved and will be much missed. After cremation her funeral will be conducted on November 3, 2010 in London.
