Arlene Taylor of Eastend, Saskatchewan passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Eastend Wolf Willow Health Centre at the age of 87 years. Arlene was born at Shelby, Montana on June 22, 1923. She came to Canada as a small child with her family and was raised in the Gull Lake and Claydon areas. She married Jack Taylor on March 5, 1943 at Edmonton, Alberta. They spent some time together in Nova Scotia during the war years and following that Arlene and Jack lived in Edmonton for a few years where their two oldest children Ron and Larry were born. They moved to Eastend to farm around 1950 where their two younger children Terry and Karen were born. Arlene was active with the Eastbrook Ladies Club, Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Gardenia Rebekah Lodge and the Eastend Curling Club. Arlene and Jack moved into Eastend in 1998. She enjoyed gardening and curling. In the later years, she enjoyed growing flowers and playing cards at the Manor in Eastend. She was predeceased by two sons, Ron on September 26, 1995 and Larry on July 12, 2006 and by two brothers in infancy. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack, son Terry (Maggie) of Eastend, daughter Karen Parks (James) of Langdon, Alberta, grandchildren Robert Taylor, Deanna Brooks (Todd), Lori Good (Jamie), Anne Taylor (T.J. Haggart), Dawn VanSandt (Cam), Ted Taylor (Ashley Gordon), Brighton Parks, Brock Parks, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral Services were held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from Eastend United Church with Reverend Ken Schrag officiating. Betty Hamrin was the organist and members of the Gardenia Rebekah Lodge were in attendance. Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery at Eastend. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Ted Taylor, Brighton Parks, Doug Durrant, Colin McCuaig, Grant Taylor and Blaine Taylor.
