Jeanette Gellrich of Merritt, B.C. passed away peacefully on November 15th, 2010.
Jean was born February 18th, 1926 in Warsaw, Poland to Ksenia and Harry Andruschak.
She is predeceased by her husband Ginter and her brother Dennis.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Paul (Anne) Andruschak, Willy (Linda) Andruschak, and her sisters Marie Andruschak and Susan Andruschak.
Jean grew up in rural Saskatchewan and after leaving home worked various jobs in northern Alberta and British Columbia. She met and married Ginter Gellrich and they began their life together in Kamloops before purchasing their own beloved ranch in the Nicola Valley. They raised 3 children while maintaining a successful cattle ranching operation for many years. Dedicated to their family and their ranch, Jean was well known for bringing calves into the house when they were born to early in the spring. A strong and independent woman, she worked side by side with her husband on the ranch.
Retiring first to Hillspring, AB. and later to Kimberley, B.C., Jean was always to be found in her gardens, baking in her kitchen or quilting. Jean volunteered many hours at the Kimberley Auxiliary Thrift Store and enjoyed her volunteer work immensely.
Her family and friends will remember Jean, through her amazing artwork in her quilts and for wonderful meals at holidays and beating everyone at scrabble.
Jean's memory will be cherished by her children James (Esther) Gellrich, Donna (Rick) Anheliger, Ken (Darlene) Gellrich as well as her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren and her cat, Kitty.
Jean's family would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful staff at Nicola Meadows and Gillis House, who made the last years of her life comfortable.
At Jean's request no funeral service will be held.
In honor of Jean's memory, donations can be made to the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary.
