HALVORSON - Christine Brita, age 99 years (1911- 2010), of Abbey, SK, beloved wife of the late Allan Halvorson, passed away at the Western Seniors Home in Leader, SK on Thursday, November 18, 2010. Christine is survived by her three children, Lavern (Sheila), Abbey, SK, Diane, Swift Current, SK, Larry (Brenda), Medicine Hat, AB; her nine grandchildren, Craig (Joanie), Regina, SK, Kent (Laurie), Stoney Plain, AB, Darren (Cindy), Abbey, SK, Rick (Leeann), Swift Current, SK, Rob (Crystal), Swift Current, SK, Dixie (Neil) Anderson, Swift Current, SK, Ryan, Swift Current, SK, Laurie (Dion) Schlosser, Dunmore, AB, Trevor Halvorson, Taber, AB; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Allan, 1998; her parents, John & Guinilla Walquist; a brother, Willy; and by a sister, Jenny Copeland. Christine was united in marriage to Allan Ingman Halvorson on June 25, 1936 at Medicine Hat, AB. Christine & Allan lived and farmed south of Abbey until 1941, at which time they moved to Abbey and continued to farm until they retired in 1973. When Christine & Allan retired, they enjoyed traveling in their motor home. They both enjoyed camping and especially enjoyed their many fishing trips out to British Columbia and up north. They both really enjoyed the trips when one or all of the families could get together at Cypress Hills or at the Cabri Park. She also enjoyed baking, knitting, gardening and watching sports on TV, especially baseball and curling. Christine will be deeply missed by all who cherished and loved her. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the Abbey United Church, Abbey, SK with Rev. James Graham officiating. The organist for the service was Marilyn Buck. “In the Garden”, “Safe in the Arms of Jesus”, “The Lord’s My Shepherd” and “Precious Lord Take My Hand” were sung by the congregation. The Interment Service was held at the Abbey Cemetery, Abbey, SK with her grandsons serving as pallbearers, Craig Halvorson, Kent Halvorson, Darren Halvorson, Trevor Halvorson, Rick Duncan, Rob Duncan and Ryan Duncan.
