LOUIS CLAUDE BOUTIN February 19, 1946 - November 25, 2010 'A Life Well-Lived' It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Louis Boutin. Louis passed away peacefully with family at his side on Thursday, November 25 following his courageous and inspiring 10 year battle with cancer. Louis is survived by Pat, his loving wife and best friend of 45 years; children, Al (Sallie) Boutin, Neil Boutin (Chris Long), Michelle (Don) Remizowski, LeeAnne (Boyd) Frederick; grandchildren, Morgan, Mitchell, Kyra, Riley, Madison, Emilie, Nicholas and Lucas; mother, Rose; mother-in-law, Dorothy Michalenko; brothers, Maurice (Audrey) and Arthur; sisters, Julia (Ray) Pool, Beatrice (Jim) Simpson, Mariette Marquis (Ray Begrand) and Cecile (Lee) Gudmundson; brother-in-law, Richard (Evangie) Michalenko; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was pre-deceased by his father, Philippe; father-in-law, Walter Michalenko; and brother-in-law, Dwight Marquis. Louis was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He was raised on the family farm near Marcelin, Saskatchewan where he attended school. Louis met Pat, the love of his life, and the die was cast - they were destined to be together. They moved to Saskatoon to begin the most important dimension of their life work, building their family in a faith-filled environment where the virtues of love, respect and compassion were taught and modeled. Through lived example Louis consistently demonstrated commitment to family, the value of hard work, and appreciation for a great sense of humour coupled with good-natured teasing which he was so well known for. Louis had a great gift for working with people. His genuine warmth, care, commitment to excellence and a hard work ethic translated into a successful career as a sales person, manager and realtor. While always successful in his work, he recognized the primacy of family. Nothing gave him more pleasure and pride than enjoying life's journey with his children and grandchildren. Celebrating every success, comforting with loving care every sorrow, and with a 'kick in the pants' on rare occasion when needed! The courageous way he accepted his illness and continued to give life in the most difficult of moments is inspirational. He will be missed. We are comforted through the knowledge he is in heaven and continues to be with us in spirit and through the lives of all he touched during his time on earth. His was a life very-well lived. The family would like to extend special thanks for the compassionate and quality care provided by Dr. Sheridan, Dr. Shenouda, Dr. Ubi and those from the Palliative Home Care Team who provided exceptional care to Louis. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louis' memory may be made to the Cancer Research (c/o Saskatoon Cancer Centre, 20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, S7N 4H4). The Vigil or Prayer for Louis will be held on Tuesday, November 30th at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 1st at 10:30 a.m. Both services from Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church (114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon).
