Lieu de décès : Deer Lake
Date de décès : 1er janvier 2011

William John ("Jack") Charles Murdoch died peacefully in the presence of family on January 1st, 2011. As a young man, Jack left his hometown of St. John's to be a Newfoundland Ranger in Deer Lake where he met and married the love of his life, Lillian Caines. Jack was an accountant and manager for Goodyear Humber Stores (later "Murdoch Home Hardware") until he received a calling and began his work as a United Church minister in 1982. Jack was an active volunteer with several organizations including the Canadian Cancer Society, the Gideons, the Lions Club, and the Deer Lake Integrated School Board. He acted benevolently as an ambulance driver, fireman and the chief of the Deer Lake Fire Department. Jack's laudable efforts to help others were recognized by the Town of Deer Lake when he was given the Pride of the Town award in May 2000. Jack enjoyed telling stories of his experiences and his family loved to hear his tales. In recent years, Jack faced the physical afflictions of paralysis and the emotional afflictions of losing his caring wife. Now this good man can walk, reunited with those he loved and the Lord he served. We must celebrate, honour and remember him. He is survived by his children, Alec (Terese), Diane Biello, Heather Perry (Tony), Bill (Judy), and Allison Peyton (Grant); grandchildren Heather Samms, Ian Murdoch, Julian Biello, Paul Payan, Melanie Marchand, Melissa Halford, Ashley & Mark Murdoch and Matthew & Abigail Peyton; great grandchildren Benjamin Marchand, and Azaria & Sheldon Payan; sisters Nell Spurrell (Wilfred) and Margaret Chancey (Tom); brothers Cecil (Shirley) and Peter (Lucille) and sisters-in-law Sandra Adey (Bernard), Renee Caines (widow of Harvey) and Edna Caines (widow of Newman).
