MARRIOTT, Shawn Bernard, 62, of Shelburne, formerly of Truro, passed away suddenly at home Thursday, January 6, 2011. Born in Halifax February 26, 1948, he was a son of Margaret (O'Rourke) and the late Bernard "Bun" Marriott, (Medicine Hat, Alberta, formerly of Truro, N.S). He grew up in Truro where he met his wife of 42 years Carolyn (Harris) of Shelburne. They moved to Shelburne and opened his auto body business, Shawn's Auto Body, later renamed S. Marriott's Auto Body & Towing for over 40 years. During this time he taught the auto body course at the Shelburne Vocational School, (currently NSCC), for 17 years. He was a former member of the Shelburne Lions Club and Bikers' Rights Organization of Nova Scotia. His passions in life were restoring vehicles, his Harley Davidson, watching the wildlife at his birdfeeders, going to Tim Hortons to talk with the gang, and spending time with family, especially his grandkids. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, and sons David (Jeanne), Blenheim, ON; Trevor (Pam), Shelburne and Peter (Wendy), Barrie, ON; and also Clifton and Holly Rand, (mother Margaret); brothers, Bruce (Gale), Medicine Hat, Alta; Brian (Barb), Truro, N.S; Seamus (Theresa), Borneo, Indonesia; sisters, Penny (Ben), Medicine Hat; Maura (Thomas), Ireland; mother-in-law, Lillian Harris, Shelburne; brothers-in-law, Warren Harris, Shelburne; Barry Harris, Jordan Falls, Kevin (Sandra) Harris, Shelburne; sister-in-law, Gloria VanNorden Tidd (Vaughne), Port Clyde; grandchildren, Therese, Liam, Connor, Kaitlyn, Ethan and Sarah as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Bernard. Funeral service was held at H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 11, Father Pat O'Meara officiating. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery.
