Sailed out of port for his final journey on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, from St. Catharines General Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
He leaves behind his loving wife and partner, Sheila; his children who meant the world to him, Lee (John) Zavarella, Ein Jr. (Tracy), Kevin, TJ (Samm); stepchildren, Teresa Hickey, Glenn, Billy Gillis (Lisa). Loved dearly by his mother, Ruth Young (Mommy's little boy) and the late Roy Young. His sister, Ruth Matheson (Winston); his baby sister, Maxine MacMullin (Michael), with whom he had a special bond. Loving poppy to Amanda, Alex, Melissa, Kurtus, Jaime-Lee, Kaitlyn, Dawson and Rylan.
Predeceased by an infant son, Ein Gregory.
Ein was born in Sydney Mines, N.S., and moved to Ontario in 1980 and started sailing with ULS Shipping Company until his retirement in 2007.
He was a member of the Quarter Century Club after sailing for 25 years. His journey is over but he left behind a million happy memories.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St.
