1943 - 2011

On February 5, 2011, Lorne passed away suddenly at Peace Arch Hospital.

A UBC graduate, he spent much of his career in the building supply business. He began part-time at Kitimat Builders; spent many years at Stewart and Hudson in Nanaimo; managed Revelstoke stores in Port Alberni and Nanaimo; moved to The Lumber Barn in Surrey; and most recently spent 18 years at Home Hardware Building Supplies in Tsawassen. He thrived on the interactions with his customers.

Lorne's generous nature made him a natural host, both at home and at Black Mountain Ranch. He once played semi-professional baseball, was an avid B.C. Lions fan; won scores of debates; was behind the wheel during many spontaneous road trips and had a quick wit.

Lorne is survived by Marjorie, his loving wife of 43 years; son Rodney (Jeaniene), daughter Renee (Rick Passek); grandsons Emery Shupe and Ryan Passek; brother Terry Shupe (Lanni) Kamloops, nephews Philip and Shaun; and extended family in Ontario.
