Margarita passed away quietly at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Regina, at the age of 99years. Margarita was born in Tullymet, Saskatchewan, to Hugh and Rita Duddridge. Her childhood was spent on a farm near Earl Grey. In 1927 she graduated from the Normal School in Regina. She taught in Macoun and near Arborfield in one-room schools. She moved to Prince Albert in 1942. While raising four children, as a single parent, she returned to teaching acquiring her permanent certificate. She then taught at Queen Mary Elementary School in PrinceAlbert from 1949 to 1975. Margarita was a long time member of the CCF/NDP, an active leaderof the Girl Guide movement in Prince Albert, a charter member of the Prince Albert Cooperative Health Centre and member of the board for 9 years, a member of the Centre’s volunteers, director and lifetime member of the Prince Albert Historical Society, member of the mid-pro Rock & Gem society, a member and director of the Prince Albert & District Council on Aging, member of Leisure Learning, committee member of UNICEF, member of Superannuated Teachers of Sask., and a member of the Saskatoon Jazz Society. Margarita had a large circle of friends. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed many summers at Emma Lake and Waskesiu with her children. She enjoyed all her years of teaching and said, “There were no bad children.”She always had positive thoughts and was interested in and encouraged her children and grandchildren in their endeavors. Some of the highlights of her life were the many family reunions. The title of her memoirs, ‘My Enjoyable Life of Hard Work’ describes her life on the prairie homestead, her teaching profession and raising her family. In 2006 she moved to Regina to be near her daughter and son-in-law Beverley and Fred Hill. Margarita was predeceased by her daughter Lois Moore (1980), grandson Richard Moore (2008), brother Geoffrey (2009), sister Violet Hadley (1984) and her brother-in-law Arthur Hadley (1983). She will live on in the hearts of her survivors, son-in-law Bob Moore, daughter Beverley (Fred), sons Earl (Gladys) Hill, James Hill, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Berta’s Personal Care Home and the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for their compassionate and dedicated care. A graveside service will be held later at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Prince Albert. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Prince Albert, SK, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Prince Albert Cooperative Health Centre, 110 – 8th Street East, Prince Albert SK S6V 0V7.
