Elizabeth “Beth” Newell
NEW GLASGOW – Elizabeth Janie “Beth” Newell, 77, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 3, 2011, surrounded by family and friends in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Argyle, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late William Anthony and Sarah Gertrude (Jordan) Hattie.
Surviving are brother, Winston Hattie, Antigonish; sisters-in-law, Bertha (Harold) Mabey, New Glasgow; Jean Greencorn, Half Island Cove, Guysborough Co.; Anne Newell, New Glasgow; Mary Hattie, Halifax; numerous nieces , nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; sisters: Annie May Hattie, Lois Nichols; brother, Harold.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel with Rev. Bruce Morrison officiating assisted by Rev. Helen Christie. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery, Argyle, Guysborough Co., at a later date.
Donations may be made her in memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or any charity of choice.
