It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel ‘Dannie’ Francis Neville, age 83, on Sunday, June 18, 2017, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, Dannie was the son of the late James and Marcella (Baldwin) Neville. Dannie was a family man. He was a member of Holy Redeemer parish and during his illness a daily follower of Mass for Shut-ins. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 1060 council, Sydney. He worked at the International Coal Piers and DEVCO coke ovens before retiring early due to ill health. Dannie enjoyed dancing with his wife, Beverly, playing darts, watching movies and especially, having fun with his grandchildren, including many visits to the park feeding ducks. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Dannie will be deeply missed by his wife, best friend and caregiver, Bev Neville, who treated him with tender loving care; daughters, Cheryl, Dana, Shoneth, Staci, Raylene, Wendy and Jennifer; sons, Alan and Bradley; sisters, Lena, Jean, Theresa, Dolores and Julie; brothers, Charlie, Abbie and Ellis; as well as 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Dannie was predeceased by two brothers, Fred and Jimmie. Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Daniel ‘Dannie’ Francis Neville will be held in Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2-3 p.m. with service to follow at 3 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area following the service. Interment will take place in new Calvary Cemetery, Whitney Pier. Donations in memory of Dannie may be made to Feral Cat Society or charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
