Christina MacDonald
Christina MacDonald, age 81, a former resident of Steel’s Hill, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay. Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Angus and Sarah Gillis.
In her earlier years she was employed at the Glace Bay Fish Plant. Christina was a caring and loving person who always enjoyed the company of others. She was the last surviving member of her mmediate family. Christina was an avid card and bingo player. She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda (John) Vaters; one son, Ian (Wendy) MacDonald, both in Glace Bay; four grandchildren, Lucas Vaters, Tommy, amantha, Christian MacDonald, four great grandchildren and a son-in-law, Darryl MacDonald. Christina was predeceased by her daughter, Darlene MacDonald, grandson, Geoffrey MacDonald and numerous siblings.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service, officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation. A special thank you to the Staff at Seaview Manor for all the care and compassion given to Christina throughout the years.
