It is with great sadness that we, the family of Paula Nearing, announce her death on June 25, 2017 in Ottawa, Ontario following a brief illness.
Paula was born in New Waterford, Cape Breton on March 20,1963 to Uhleen and Mello Nearing who predeceased her. Paula loved people and made everyone feel unique and special. She adored music, singing, dancing and bowling with her friends. Paula always looked forward to traveling to Ottawa to visit family at holidays. She lived at Resi Care and worked at the Horizon Achievement Centre where she formed many lifelong friendships.
Paula is survived by her siblings, Anita, Kevin (Dakota), Danette (Louis), Carmie, Meline (Brad) all of Ottawa; Lauren (Jason) of Edmonton, Shauna (Morten) of Doha, Qatar, Ian (Nicole), Mark of Halifax and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Special thanks to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital An Cala Palliative Care Unit team, Horizon Achievement Centre, Resi Care and the staff of St. Vincent Hospital, Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paula's name to the Horizon Achievement Centre or to An Cala. Internment at Hope Cemetery, Ottawa.
