Emmett James Michael of Waycobah First Nation, born June 1, 2016, age 1, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck.
Though his life on earth was short lived he touched so many people with love. He taught so many people how life is so precious. Emmett had a rare disease called Leukodystrophy and was diagnosed with Krabbe which affected the brain. We always prayed for colours for Sir Emmett and now he is the rainbow for the heavens.
We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and paramedics who helped out in his care at the IWK and St Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish, and the awesome staff at the Theresa Cremo Memorial Health Centre. We couldn't do it without all of you and love you all so much.
He is survived by his mom and dad, Bernice and Luke; brother, Lucas; most loved cousins, Craig, Clarence, BFF Julius Pierro, and numerous other cousins; god parents, Georgina Julian and Bruce Deveaux; grandparents, Madeline Michael of Waycobah; Regina and Gerard Johnson of Eskasoni, and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
He is predeceased by grandfather, Clarence Michael, and first cousin, Amelia Denny-Johnson.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday at 298 Reservation Rd., Waycobah First Nation. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday from Blessed Kateri Parish Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Waycobah with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
