It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister and aunt, Stella Cameron, age 93, a resident of Coxheath and formerly a long time resident of North Sydney, on Thursday July 13, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on November 5, 1923 in Sydney, Stella was the daughter of the late Stanley and Victoria (Gawanda) Kowalczyk. Stella along with her husband Don owned and operated Cameron Cleaners in North Sydney for many years. She was a devout member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney and in recent years at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River.
Stella is survived by her three sisters, Vickie O’Hagan, Ontario, Jennie (Levi) Horne, Sydney Forks and Cil (Hughie) MacInnis, Frenchvale; one brother, J.J. MacLean, Sydney, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Cameron in 1991; by sisters, Mary Ross, Rose Marchaund, Isobel Vassalo, Florence Heb and Sophie Wambolt, and by brothers, Joseph and John.
Visitation for Stella will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
