JOHN LOUIS CANTWELL

Date de décès : 21 juillet 2017

With profound broken hearts the family of John Louis Cantwell regret to announce his passing on July 21, 2017 at the age of 51. Lou was a treasured son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Lou was the son of the Jacqueline (Morrison) and the late Louie Cantwell.
Born with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy (Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva - FOP), Lou never allowed this disorder stop him enjoying life. Lou lived his life “his way.” He was incredibly determined and overcame many obstacles in his life. Lou loved music, concerts, attending dances and parties. As a teenager and young adult, Lou could often be found driving his car, making new friends in his journeys. Later in life, Lou displayed his talent as an artist, creating graphic pencil pictures. Lou touched the hearts of many and inspired those who met him.
Lou is survived by his mother, Jacqueline; brother, Fred (Flora) and sisters, Alisa (Paul MacDonald) and Lynn Neild. Also left to mourn are his nephews and nieces, Stephen Cantwell, Jacob and Camryn MacDonald, and Brandon Nield; several aunts, uncles and cousins and his best buds, Danny (Dayna) MacNeil. You are true friends and Lou loved you.
Lou lived his entire life with his mother whom he loved and adored. He would be the first one to tell you that there was no one who could take care of him like Mom.
Lou was predeceased by his father, Louie; paternal grandmother, Jennie Cantwell; maternal grandparents, J.K. and Lexena Morrison and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. P. Hickey, Dr. P. Smith, Dr. J. Ritter and all of the staff of Palliative Care, the Staff on Five East at the Northside General Hospital, Fr. J. Oliver, Community Home Care, the VON, New Dawn Services, and private care workers. Your concern, care and support were exceptional. A special thank you is extended to Fr. J.J. MacDonald. Lou and Fr. J.J. became good friends sharing many stories and enjoying each other’s company.
At Lou's request there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Fr. J. Oliver and Fr. J.J. MacDonald officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to J.M.Jobes Funeral Home.
Donations can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Society or a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
