SHANKS. Marion Irene Shanks, age 92, of Three Mile Plains, Hants Co. passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, in the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on October 30, 1924, in Three Mile Plains, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Hattie (Hunter) Whitehead. She was a member of the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Three Mile Plains. Marion was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Hants County Branch #009, Royal Canadian Legion, Windsor. Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Sylvia Shanks, Three Mile Plains; grandchildren, Kim, Bert (Wendy), Scott (Krista); 7 great grandchildren and 7great-great grandchildren; sisters, Winnifred MacDonald, Three Mile Plains; Margaret Ward, New Minas; special nephew, Garnet Whitehead, Windsor; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Ralph; son, Ralph Jr.; an infant son, Johnny; twin sister in infancy; brothers, Robert, Harry, Arnold, Herman, and Carl; sisters, Marie Caldwell, Elsie Upshaw. Visitation was 7-9 pm Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS, B0N 2T0. Funeral service was 2 pm Thursday, August 3, 2017, in St. Thomas Anglican Church, Three Mile Plains. Rev. Tom Henderson officiated, followed by a reception. Interment was in the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Donations in Marion’s memory were requested to be made to St. Thomas Anglican Church or the Dykeland Lodge Seniors Bus Fund.
