REID, Carl Earle – 74, Truro. It is with great sadness that the family of Carl Reid announces his passing on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Lewis and Alice (MacKenzie) Reid. Carl was self-employed as a backhoe operator for 20 years and then worked as a heavy equipment operator with Department of Highways for 38 years from where he retired. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Brenda Jean (MacMillan); sons, Victor, Mark (Patty), Shawn (Jacqueline), Erick (Andrea); daughter, Carla (John) Fenton; grandchildren, Stephanie Reid, Samantha Reid, Bethany Fenton, Colby Fenton, Kyle Reid, Ryan Reid, Meggan Reid, Emilee Reid, Grace Reid, Alexis Reid, Garath Reid, Logan Reid, Mary Krupay MacMillan, Emily Krupay MacMillan; great grandchildren, Sapphire Allen, Phoenix Allen; sisters, Phyllis Schenck, Mary Lou (Ken) Fletcher, Alice (Harold) Ahlberg-Eckhardt; brother, Gordon (Sylvia) Reid; sisters-in-law, Ruth Reid, Joan (Roger) Langille, Hilda Reid; brother-in-law, Nils Ahlberg; sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Fred) Weatherbee, Pansy Baker, Marena (Paul) Weavers, Karen (Johnny) Pratt, Frank Works, Freddy MacMillan, Larry Weatherbee, Donnie (Marion) Mollon; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Betty Baird, Doris Prime, Joan Reid, Carol Smith; brothers, Earl, Alvin, Eldridge, Irvin, Jack, Victor, Donald, Fred, Phillip, one in infancy; sister-in-law, April Works; brother-in-law, Angus MacMillan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Carl’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., today, Wednesday, August 9, 2017, and funeral service 11 a.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017, Reverend Kaj Binderup officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Crossroads Cemetery, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley. Family flowers only.
