Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, Miller Centre surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years Sue, August 17, 2014; parents Eileen (nee Tucker) and Philip Roache; granddaughter Renee Roache; sisters Alice (Richard Walsh), Gertie (Bill Kelly), baby sister Rose; brothers Philip, Frank; niece Rhonda Murphy. Left
with many loving memories are his daughters Mary (Gilbert Parsons), Rosemarie (Robert Baldwin); sons Mike (late Mary Whelan), Kevin (Mary) and Wayne (Linda); sisters, Patsy (Jerome Mchugh), Eileen, Kay (Mike Arsenault), Mary (Raymond Dwyer); brothers David (Joan), Bill (Joan), John (Daphne), Patrick (Dionne); sister-in-law Lillian. He adored his 8 grandchildren Alyson, Jacob, Emily, Bradley, Jesse, Joshua, Tyler and Jennifer and great-granddaughter Hannah. Also left are a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Dad also leaves behind his special dog Max. In 1948 at the age of 14 Dad began work with the NFLD Railway and after Confederation with the CN railway until its closure in 1988. He was proud to say that he came from a family of railway people and has passed on his vivid memories and knowledge of what it was like to live during those times. Sincere gratitude goes out to the staff of the Palliative care unit Miller Centre who made this past week so comfortable for our Dad. The compassion and support you provide is amazing. Also to Dr. Mathieson at the HSC who followed our Dads health and kept his door open for us when we needed him; also to Father Melvin, Father Roche, Father Alejandro and Sister Monica Hickey for visiting Dad; to John, Bill and Jerome for being there for Dad at home. Special mention to Colin Blackwood for doing so much for our Dad these past few years. Your kindness was so natural and effortless. You went above and beyond to help our Dad and ensure that the tasks that he once did himself were taken care of. Arrangements are entrusted to Broughtons Funeral Home Brigus. Visitation Tuesday Aug. 22, 5pm - 9pm, Wednesday Aug. 23 10am to 9pm. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made to "Light the Night Walk" taking place Sept. 23, 2017 in St. John's in aide of Leukemia and blood cancers.
