KEMP, Richard ‘Dick’ Edward Bell – age 83 of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and formerly of Ottawa, Ontario passed away peacefully on August 16, 2017 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Ottawa, Ontario on June 7, 1934 he was a son to the late James Lewis Kemp and Ethelwynne Kemp (nee Bell). Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family dearly. He started his working career as a salesman before starting his own printing company (D.K. Enterprises). He also worked at the Liquor Commission offering wine tasting which he enjoyed telling people for a good laugh. Dick was also a committed volunteer in Ottawa serving on the Boards of Upsteam (Project Upstream) and Rideauwood Family and Addiction Services. In 1989 he visited Nova Scotia and fell in love with the area, eventually retiring in Yarmouth in 2014. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting stamps and had a very large collection which he took great pride in. Dick was also quite the card player loving to play Queen’s with his later father-in-law Steve Poole and loved to attend the weekly Bingo. His sense of humor and quick wit will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, June Kemp (nee Poole) who was his world; son, Jamie (Phyllis), Ottawa, ON; step sons, Craig (Norma) Ottawa, ON; Stephen (Ellen), London, ON; grandchildren, James (Ani), Lily and Jacob of Ottawa, ON, Alyssa, of Cambridge, ON and Rebecca of London, ON; great grandson, Riley, Ottawa, ON. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Tuesday August 22, 2017 from 2-3 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Following the visitation a funeral service began at 3 p.m., Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment will take place at a later date in the family plot in Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or Rideauwood Family and Addiction Services.
