Calvin ‘Wiggy’ Edmunds

Date de naissance : 29 décembre 1929

Date de décès : 29 août 2017

It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, brother and friend, Calvin Edmunds, age 87, on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side.
Born in North Sydney on December 29, 1929, he was the loving son of the late Edward and Alfreda (Pyke) Edmunds. Dad worked at Municipal Ready Mix running the ready mix plant and in his final years was Vice-President for approximately 37 years. He so enjoyed pulling many pranks and teasing the office staff. He enjoyed his Monday evening card games with his devoted friend Martin and we thank you Martin for doing that for him. Dad was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney and was devoted to his faith.
He enjoyed hunting in his younger years, spending summers at his cottage and of course pulling many pranks on his family and friends, and oh boy would he laugh.
Dad had such a great spirit, he enjoyed life and spending time with his family and friends. He had a great laugh, wonderful smile and a heart of gold, you couldn’t help but love him.
Our lives have been blessed Dad because of you and we miss you already but knowing that you are at peace now gives us great comfort.
Calvin is survived by his loving children, twins Kim, Millville and Calvin, North Sydney; daughter, Ruth, Halifax; his sister, Ruth Black; sisters-in-law, Sr. Bernadine MacIntosh and Cathy MacIntosh; his adoring grandchildren, Christopher (Brittany) Garnier, Halifax, Gregory Chase, Cole Harbour, Geoffrey (Ricki-Lee) Chase, Cole Harbour; step-granddaughter, Sarah (Jared) Lace, Kentville; great-grandchildren, Aubree and Abigail Chase and Charlotte Lace, and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Calvin was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary ‘Tosh’ Edmunds; his daughter, Bernadine ‘Bunny’ Chase; his brothers, Gordon (Jean), Murray (Sally) and Russell (Stella); brothers-in-law, Rannie Black, Joseph MacIntosh, and nephew, Danny MacIntosh.
Special thank you to Dr. Paul Hickey for his devotion to both our parents all these years, Dr. Mike MacDonald and Staff at Northside General, Emergency Department, Dr. Andrew Giorno and staff of 4B Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the wonderful care Dad received, social worker Allison MacAulder of 4B, for all your help and also the home care workers who helped with Dad’s care.

Visitation for Calvin will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday (today) in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.

“Dad behind a giving hand is a warm and gracious heart. We love you Dad and will always miss you but knowing you and mom are together again gives us great comfort and warms our heart and gives us peace. Rest now Dad, your journey is over and you are safe. Until we meet again
Dad, God Bless.”
At the rising of the sun and its going down,
We remember you.
At the blowing of the wind and the chill of winter,
We remember you.
At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring,
We remember you.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer,
We remember you.
At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of Autumn,
We remember you.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember you.
As long as we live, you too will live;
For you are now a part of us,
As we remember you, for now and forever.
