It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Daniel Morrison, age 92, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Wentworth Court, Sydney.
Roy was born February 25, 1925 in Howie Centre, he was the son of the late Roderick and Katie Ann (MacKillop) Morrison. He helped run the family farm in Howie Centre until his early twenties. He later worked as a carpenter with Begg Construction for many years. Roy was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, his sons and their families and especially his grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, North Sydney.
Roy is survived by his wife, Claire (Hillier) Morrison; his sons, Barry (Helen) Morrison, Howie Centre and Todd (Chantal) Morrison, Quebec; his grandchildren, Kate, Seamus, Maggie, Gavin, Justin and Stella, and great granddaughter, Nora Zeynep Suer; his sister, Annie Morley, Liverpool, NS, and by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Roy was predeceased by brothers, Donald (Effie), James (Lucy), Angus (Betty) and George (Cathy); sisters, Catherine (Merlin) Brown, Christena (Robert) MacDonald, Margaret (Hugh) MacKinnon, Mae (Neil) MacKinnon, Alice (Percy) Davey and Angie (Bert) Rackham, as well as brother-in-law, Charles Morley.
A private visitation and funeral service will be held at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
