A. Kathleen “Kay” Saulnier (born Baker), 91, of the Meadows Home for Special Care and formerly of Dayton, Yarmouth Co,. passed away on 4 September, 2017 at the Meadows surrounded by family. Born in Yarmouth in 1925, she was the daughter of the late Addie (Boucher) and Herbert Baker. As a young woman growing up during World War II, she amassed many stories to pass on to her children and grandchildren. Having worked at the Cotton Mill as well as the Five to a Dollar Store, in 1952 she married Dennis Saulnier and put her energy into raising and caring for her family in Dayton. She was a longtime member of the Yarmouth Lionettes Club, and a volunteer with the Yarmouth Food Bank. She is survived by daughter Melanie Kelly (Stephen) and son Randy (Kathy). She was incredibly proud of her six grandchildren, Ryan (St. John’s), Daniel (Halifax), Meghan (Victoria), Katie (Montreal), Colin (Cole Harbour), and Hannah (Yarmouth). She is also survived by her sister Marg Rose (Yarmouth) and brother George Baker (Yarmouth). She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Dennis W. Saulnier. The family is grateful for the incredible care given to Kay by the staff at the Meadows over the last three years and during her final days. Donations in Kay’s memory may be made to the Yarmouth Community Fund, or a charity of your choice. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service, with a graveside ceremony for family only.
