Annie Fraser MacKay

MacKay, Annie Fraser, 87, of Townsview Estates and formerly of 14 Lansdoon Place, Truro, N.S. passed away September 6, 2017. Born on June 15, 1930 in Brookside, Colchester County, N.S., she was the daughter of John Earl and Evelyn Mae (Staples) MacKay. Educated in the Truro Schools, she graduated from the New Brunswick Bible Institute in Victoria, N.B. She worked in Sackville, N.B. and La Bonne Nouvelle Mission, Moncton, N.B. Annie worked in later years at Yould’s Ltd., Truro for 30 years retiring in 1994. She also worked two short terms for Mission in Bolivia, South America. She was an active member of The People’s Church where she taught Sunday School for 50 years and was Chair of the Mission Committee along with service on other various committees and groups. She is survived by sister, Earlene Carol Barrett, Truro; several nieces, nephews and several cousins and friends. She was predeceased by brother, Wilfred Gardner MacKay and sister, Kathleen Jean MacKay. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, Rev. Valerie Kingsbury and Rev. David N. MacNaughton officiating. Reception will follow. Private burial to take place in the family lot at Watson Cemetery, Truro. Memorial donations may be made to the MacKay-Smith Memorial Fund of Watson Cemetery, in care of R.V. MacKay, 1219 Prince St., Truro, N.S. B2N 1J3.
