Marcel Paul Fred Gaudet

Marcel Paul Fred Gaudet

Date de naissance : 27 septembre 1950

Date de décès : 9 septembre 2017

It is with sorrow and heartbreak that we announce the sudden passing of Marcel Gaudet, age 67, on Saturday, September 9, 2017, in his sleep. Born in Halifax on September 27, 1950, Marcel found his heart's home in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, birthplace of his soul mate and lifelong love Diane, and his cherished daughters Hillary and Mallory. No one could be more devoted to his family than Marcel. He loved them totally and committed completely to providing for their comfort and well-being.
Everyone who knew Marcel, whether from his many years working at Foodland, or simply from his presence in the community, loved him and marveled at his kind and generous nature. Like his dear mother Theresa before him, he never spoke an unkind word about anyone. He saw the good in all. What he brought to us also was his warm and mischievous smile that was well suited to his quick wit and the playful teasing way he had with people. He was a fun-loving, giving person and his "girls" at work particularly loved him for being their guy; a steady, dependable man, a joy to be around. The men too will miss him for he was also a guy's guy. In fact, Foodland is shutting down during Marcel's funeral in order that all staff will be free to attend. You may note that things will be quieter now at Nora's New to You where Mar went almost daily in order to maintain the high fashion standard he set for Sydney Mines.
Marcel is survived by his loving wife, Diane (Tobin); daughters, Hillary and Mallory; very special sister-in-law, Marlene Tobin (Thunder Bay); brother-in law, Wayne Tobin (Donna), Sydney Mines; nieces and nephews, Andrew Tobin, Halifax, Aaron Gaudet, Halifax, Michelle Berlinsky, Port Alberney, BC, and nieces, Megan, Victoria and Vanessa Tobin; sisters, Deborah (Kent Baker), Halifax, Cathy (Frank Dempster), Timberlea, and Lucille Gaudet, Dartmouth.
Marcel was predeceased by his father, Marcellin; his mother, Theresa; brother, Ronald; two infant babies, Faith and Jared; father-in-law, Cyril Tobin; mother-in-law, Shirley Tobin, and brothers-in-law, Keith and Elmer Tobin.
Because of Marcel's love for all animals, his family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the SPCA or to an animal shelter of your choice. They also recommend that you consider supporting the Canadian Heart Association.
Visitation for Marcel Gaudet will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of his life will take place Thursday, at 2 p.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
