It is with great sadness that the family of the late Barbara Neil announce her peaceful passing at her home on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the age of 89 years. Barbara was the last surviving sibling of the Penney family. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband: Chesley Llewellyn Neil; children Faye Otto, Ferne Knight and Joseph Battiste (Zella); two grandchildren: Marc Knight (Joy) and Aaron Battiste; step-children: Wayne Neil (Trudy), Robert Neil (Karen), Evelyn Russell (Ed), Olive LeDrew and Beatrice Noseworthy (Larry); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Battiste; granddaughter Kimberly Knight; sons-in-law John Carpenter Otto and John A. Knight; stepson Gerald Neil and step-son-in-law Mike LeDrew; parents Edgar and Emma Penney. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 7- pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2 pm at All Saints Anglican Church, 44 Clarence Street, Corner Brook with Reverend Tanya White officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Church Memorial Fund.
