CORA MERLE SHEFFIELD

December 25, 1921 – September 10, 2017
Born and raised in Victoria, Merle planned to go to University to become a teacher, but married instead and moved to West Vancouver in 1942 where she and her husband Jack raised their family. When their youngest child started school, Merle started volunteering at University Hill Preschool for handicapped children. When Jack retired, they moved to Salt Spring Island where she enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, was active in the library and at the Anglican Church. She moved to Gibsons to be closer to family in 2015, where she lived until her death.
She is predeceased by her son Allan in 1944, her husband Jack of 48 years in 1989, and her daughter Barbara in 2006. She is survived by daughters Kay Gass, Anne Titcomb, and Linda (Bob) Osmachenko; seven grandchildren, Arthur (Rayna), Sarah (Philippe), Kevin (Kirsten), Russell (Pauline), Kait (James), Ian, Jennifer (Martin); and 13 great-granchildren, Jaycee, Shaye, Kaya, Tessa, Wyatt, Dustin, Megan, Emma, Averie, Eric, Julia, Logan and Hunter.
