Peggy (Phyllis Joy) Wright

Wright, Peggy (Phyllis Joy)

It is with broken hearts that we have to say goodbye to Peggy. She passed away peacefully at the CEHHC on October 2, 2017 at the age of 94. She is now reunited with her husband Henry, who passed away 41 years ago and who she missed everyday since then. Peggy was the daughter of the late William and Nellie Thrift. Peggy was born in Maidenhead, England and immigrated to Canada in 1948 as a war bride and Canada soon became home – lucky for us. Peggy worked for Lloyds of London while in England and upon coming to Canada she worked for various offices and finally Truro Monument Works. After stopping work she was more than happy to look after her grandsons whenever she was needed – she always made them French fries and “Wright” cookies. Peggy loved to bowl and she bowled in the seniors leagues up until May of this year. She was treasurer at St. George’s Anglican Church for many years and was involved in many Church activities. She loved to read and she read whenever she could. In earlier days she loved to cross stitch – we have many beautiful pictures that she made including one of each of our boys. She was a very independent lady who lived in her own home until three weeks ago when it became impossible for her to do so. Peggy is survived by her devoted and loving son Gerry (Valerie), Greenfield and her two grandsons who she doted on and loved with all her heart - David, Greenfield and Jeff (Lindsay), Kentville as well as her much loved and adored great granddaughter Madisson, Kentville. She is also survived by several relatives in England. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry in 1976 as well as brothers and sisters in England. Visitation will be held from 1 – 2 on Friday, October 6th at the Colchester Community Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Interment to follow in Bible Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only. If desired donations to the Palliative Care Unit at CEHHC or St. John’s Anglican Church would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Online messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
