Edward “Lawrence” McLean
We regret to announce the passing of Edward “Lawrence” McLean, 76 of Belmont, Colchester County which occurred on Friday, October 6, 2017, in Vimy Court, Bible Hill. Born on November 11, 1940 in Halifax, he grew up in Lakeview and was the son of the late Harold Hanson and Ella (Canavan) McLean. He worked all his life as a carpenter, the last 20 years before retirement at I.M.P. In his younger years Lawrence enjoyed playing the violin and won several competitions. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Evelyn (Jennings) McLean and children Dwight (Heather) McLean and their children David, Eric, Trevor and Megan; Edna (Brian) Newcombe and their children Leah, Evan and Ryan; Ruth Ann (Graham) Knap and their children Emily and Victoria. Siblings Keith (Barbara) McLean, Seward (Elva) McLean, Joyce (Bill) Sheridan; sisters-in-law, Margaret Jennings, Carol Richardson; brothers-in-law Edwin (Roberta) Jennings, Byron (Sally) Jennings as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Ronald and brother-in-law Stan Richardson. There will be no visitation by family request. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 2 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Glenn MacLean officiating. Reception to follow. Burial in Belmont Cemetery. No flowers by request. If so desired, donations in Lawrence’s memory may be made to the VON (14 Court St., Suite 100, Truro, B2N 3H7) or Trinity United Church, Onslow (1314 Hwy 2, Onslow, B6L 5E1). Family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at Vimy Court for all the care and support Lawrence received.
