Daisy Kathleen Harris, 96 of East Margaretsville, NS, passed away peacefully in the Veterans Unit of Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton on October 31, 2017. Born July 17, 1921, in Bridgetown, NS, she was the eldest of eleven children born to the late George Angus and Leafy Mae (Vidito) Grant. She was a veteran of World War II serving in the Women's Division of the RCAF. In 1946 she married Walter Edward Harris of East Margaretsville and there, they reared her two children. She was a member of the Margaretsville Baptist Church, formerly of the Evergreen Baptist Church and Sewing Circle. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch Branch No.1, Middleton. Daisy loved life and lived it to the fullest; difficulties were challenges. She loved to make people laugh. She is survived by daughter Shirley, East Margaretsville; son Gary (Wanda) Bridgewater; sisters Shirley Houghton, Greenwood; Anna (Murray) Banks, Nictaux; brothers Douglas (Laurette) Welland, Ont; George (Maxine) Lawrencetown; grandchildren Christopher (Kerry) Harris, Ottawa; Jennifer (Kristian) Turner, Midville Branch, NS; Crystal Harris, Digby; Neil (Tammy) Harris, Bridgewater; great-grandchildren Kortney, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Liam, Jonah, Naomi, Emily, and Julia; great-great-¬grandson Logan. Daisy was predeceased by husband Walter (2005); sister Peggy, brothers Murray, Harold, Gerald, Angus, and Everett. Visitation was held 7-9PM Friday, November 3, 2017 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service was held 2:00PM Saturday, November 4, 2017 with Rev. Eugene Foster officiating. A reception for family and friends followed the service. Interment was in the Bay View Cemetery, East Margaretsville. Donations in memory may be made to the Margaretsville Baptist Church or Bay View Cemetery. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the doctors and nursing staff of the Veterans Unit, Soldiers Memorial Hospital for all their care and compassion shown to our mother.
