It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our sister, Ann McCormick, 77, on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on October 11, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Dolena (MacKinnon) McCormick.
Ann lived and worked in Ontario for 28 years, until she retired and moved back to Cape Breton, the home of her heart.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Frances Snofl Foley; son, Frank Snofl of Adelaide, Australia; and her grandchildren, Lauren and Nathan Foley, also of Adelaide, Australia.
Also left to mourn are her brother, Michael McCormick, Sydney Mines; sisters, Mildred (Lloyd) Forrest, Sydney Mines, Marilyn Bennett, Ontario, Connie McCormick, Sydney Mines; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, whom she loved dearly.
Besides her parents, Ann was predeceased by her sister, Florence Devoe Ross and brother, Raymond McCormick.
Special thanks to Dr. Doug Kohlsmith for taking such wonderful care of Ann for the past 30 years.
Special thanks also to the nurses at the Northside General, RN Barb Devoe, and the nursing staff in Taigh Solas, 3rd floor. Many thanks also to the Home Care staff and the VON for their dedication.
Upon request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place.
A funeral mass to celebrate Ann's life will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, with Father James Oliver officiating. A reception will be held for family and friends in the parish hall after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann’s memory may be made to the Canadian Lung Association, or Hope for Wildlife.
