New Glasgow - Lawrence Joseph “Larry” Taplin, age 79, passed away November 7th, 2017, surrounded by family in the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital.  Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Joseph and Maud (Wilson) Taplin. Larry was employed as a Signal Maintainer with the CNR for 37 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Karen (Grant) Taplin; sons: David Taplin (Christie) of Pugwash; Jamie Taplin (Kim) of Greely, ON; daughter, Tanya Taplin (Pete) of Ottawa, ON; granddaughters: Mary Katelyn, Kailey and Kiley; grandsons: Riley and Todd (Jenna); great-grandchildren: Colton and Ali Rae; step-grandchildren: Cadence and Kyle. He is also survived by brother, Herb Taplin (Helen), Truro; sisters: Sandra Roy (Rob), Charlottetown, PEI; Karen MacLaughlin (Lowell) Lochaber; and a niece and several nephews. A visitation will take place on Friday, November 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 2 pm at the Trinity United Church in New Glasgow with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating.
