It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Yvonne Marie Pierro, 65 of Wagmatcook, on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck.
Born in Baddeck, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Louise Pierro.
Yvonne devoted her life to taking care of her children, grandchildren, husband and family.
She was proud of her Mi’kmaq culture and was a residential school survivor. She lived in Ontario for 30 years until she moved back home to Wagmatcook in 2006. She enjoyed sewing, reading, going to the Drive-In and computer games. Yvonne was a big Stephen King fan enjoyed reading his books and watching his movies. She also enjoyed the Pow Wow trails until her health slowed her down. She had a wonderful personality and sense of humour, she had a smile on her face right until the end.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Terry Bernard (Newell), Miranda Pierro, Steward Pierro and Anika Braithwaite; grandchildren, Terrance Charles ‘TC’ (Maddie), Aria, Sarah (Noel), Justin (Deanne), Ayden, Jenika, JackLynn and Tapanga; great grandchildren, Aleigha, Paislynn, Madelyn, Emma, Akasha and Noel Jr.; brothers and sister, Charlie (Mali), Alena (Bobby) and Francis ‘Chisholm’, and special nieces and nephews, Kim, Andy, Francine, Michael, Neveda, Tash, Celine, Taranah, Jordon and Nelson. She is also survived by one aunt, one uncle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter V. MacLean; daughter, Jennifer Pierro; brothers, Michael and Peter Tony, and sisters, Rubena, Theresa, Christine and Bernadette.
Visitation for Yvonne Pierro will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 18 at the Elder Center, 57 B Fishery Rd., Wagmatcook. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 20 at Queen of the World Church with Fr. Vincent Travers officiating. Salite to follow in the Wagmatcook Cultural Center.
