GORDON W. MacDOUGALL

GORDON W. MacDOUGALL

April 8, 1934 - November 14, 2017
Formed during the depression and war years, Gordie left home at 15. A driven individual, his short stint in the navy only served to reinforce his resolutely independent character. His working life involved mostly logging and log salvage, owning his own company, building his own boats and doing every job that takes place in the woods. He loved old hot rod cars, one of which he started to build on his own. One of his proudest moments was the legal victory won by him and his fellow log salvors, breaking the monopoly of Gulf Log Salvage. Just a few short months ago, he travelled to his ancestral roots in Scotland, which after many years of research had been a lifelong dream of his. Our lives seem dull in comparison.
Gordie passed peacefully at Sechelt Hospital on the evening of November 14 with his eldest son by his side. He will be remembered by friends and family for his relentless stubbornness, his unbreakable pride, his witty humour, and the eternal love he had for his wife and family.
A loving husband, a father, a brother, an unforgettable grandfather, and a friend to many, Gordon is survived by Francie, his wife of 56 years, his children Rick (Pinky), Lisa and Bruce (Alison), grandchildren Melissa, Janice, Brandyn, Kasimir and Henry, and brothers Tom, Don and Bob.
We will all miss you dearly. Until we meet again.
