SARA JEAN MARIE PETRIE

SARA JEAN MARIE PETRIE

Lieu de naissance : MARION BRIDGE
Date de naissance : 22 mars 1957

Date de décès : 22 novembre 2017

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the early passing of Sara Jean Marie Petrie on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.
Sara Jean was born on March 22, 1957, to Allister and Audrey MacDonald (Hussey) in Marion Bridge, NS.
Sara lived her life in Mira. After graduating from Riverview Rural High School in 1975, she started her career as a secretary with Nova Scotia Department of Health, where she retired after 37 years. Her work ethic, her wit, and her vivacious presence lit up everyone around her. Sara Jean was humble and chose a simple life. Her dream was to build a home on her father’s land beside the Mira. For 18 years, she lived out her dream with her husband and best friend at the end of Gesner Point Road. Sara Jean enjoyed hunting for beach glass, travelling to Cuba with dear friends and cruising on the Mira. Sara and Donnie were partners in all aspects of life. She never shied away from an adventure. Sometimes you’d find her banding lobsters off Gabarus, sometimes running Fuzzy’s Fries behind the scenes. Sara never wasted a moment.
Sara Jean was predeceased by her father, Allister MacDonald; father-in-law, Neil Petrie; and mother-in-law, Irene Petrie (MacKeigan).
She is survived by her husband, Donnie Petrie; sons, Daniel Petrie and Brian Petrie; mother, Audrey MacDonald (Hussey); brothers, Wayne MacDonald (Hilda) and Gordon MacDonald (Diane); and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a goddaughter, who she loved deeply.
Visitation will take place at Bethel United Church, Marion Bridge on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 4-8 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at Bethel United Church on Monday, November 27 at 11 a.m., with Nancy Whitney-Latham, DLM officiating. Interment in Oakfield Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Crossroads Cape Breton.
Special acknowledgments to the commitment and professionalism of Tracy George, NP, Dr. Kate MacInnes, and Dr. Lisa Gammell, and thank you each of the support staff from the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
