Roderick 'Roddie' Simon Gould

Roderick 'Roddie' Simon Gould

Date de naissance : 2 juillet 1926

Date de décès : 25 novembre 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, tata, uncle, and friend, Roderick ‘Roddie’ Simon Gould, 91, of Eskasoni.
‘Roddie’ was born on July 2, 1926, and raised in Eskasoni. He was the son of the late Simon and Margaret Gould.
He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on November 25, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson disease.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his loving wife of many, many years, Mary Jane ‘Janie’ Gould; his son, Roderick Gould (Zusun); beloved grandchildren, Michael and Madison Gould; “adopted daughter”, Jessie (Skyler) Denny-Jeddore; honorary grandchildren, Miley Bernard and Payson Pierro and brother-in-law, Ronald James Gould. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Roddie was one of the founding members and worked for several years as an oyster farmer with Eskasoni’s Oyster Farm. He had many hobbies, including basket-making, waltes making, axe-handling making etc. He had a passion for tending to his beautiful yard, and was often seen outside doing yard work. He had a love for animals, often training many of his beloved pets-some would even go to the local store for him. A true definition of humble and kind; he was honoured with having a commercial fishing vessel in Eskasoni named, “Uncle Roddie Gould” in 2003.
Roddie was predeceased by his parents, the late Simon and Margaret Gould; sisters, Madeline, Mary Rose, Mary Jane, and Mary; brothers, Frank Gould and John Joe Gould, all of Eskasoni. He was also predeceased by his foster son, Charlie Joe Dennis.
Visitation for Mr. Gould will begin after 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at his residence, 4281 Shore Rd., Eskasoni.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Holy Family Church with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment will follow in the Holy Family parish cemetery, Eskasoni. Salite and meal will follow at the Eskasoni Gabriel Centre.
The family would like to thank Dr. Steve Crosbie for his care, as well as the excellent homecare workers and homecare nurses for their care, especially, Amanda, Bernice, Cheyanne and Annette.
