It is with sadness we announce the passing of Albert Edwin Angus, age 87, of Linden, NS, most recently of Gables Lodge, Amherst, where he passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 26, 2017.
Born in Linden, NS, he was a son of the late Maynard and Mary (Atkinson) Angus.
Albert was a member of the Renwick United Church, putting much time into the repair and upgrades at the church. Chairman of the manse committee, he was also active in upgrading and maintaining it. He was a lifelong dairy farmer, raising Ayrshire cattle in Linden, and won many Agriculture Awards during his career. Retirement allowed Albert and Mildred to travel around North America.
In addition to his wife of over 68 years, Mildred (MacDonald), he is survived by sons, Eric, Ottawa, ON, Keith (Sheila), Linden, NS, Paul (Dorothy Vandenburg), Linden, NS; daughters Barbara (John) Copp, Amherst, NS, Gail (Vern) Crosthwaite, Sackville, NB, Nancy (Clarence) MacLennan, Linden, Janet (Bill) Tower, Beckwith, Linda (Alan) Mattinson, Amherst; son-in-law Mike Masters, Oxford, NS; 17 Grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Grace MacDonald, Amherst, Mildred Hall, Aylmer, PQ; numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by daughter Karen Angus; granddaughter Crystal Smith; 2 infant grandchildren; sisters Marion Smith, Della MacNeil, Helen Bryson, Hazel Prescott; brothers Harold and Jamie; daughter-in-law Peggy Angus.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm. Albert's funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 2 pm from Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, Ruth Gamble, DLM, officiating. Burial will follow in the Renwick United Church Cemetery, Linden, NS.
