On Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 Francis (Frank) Joseph Reidy passed away at the age of 82 years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Giovanna (Giv); parents, Emmet and Catherine Reidy; sister, Maureen Violini; and brothers, Thomas and Emmet. Frank is survived by his sons: Greg (Cyndy), Dennis (Barb), and Dave (Lora); seven grandchildren, who were the center of his world: Brennan, Katelyn, Brett, Emily, Kyle, Ryan and Josh; brother, Vince Reidy (Wynn); sisters: Ellen Desantis (Tony), Pat Rissling (George), and Bernadette Heaney (Gerard); brother-in-law and sisters- in-law: Agnes Reilander, Jerome Smith, Mary-Ann Reidy, and Lorna-Mae Reidy; as well as many nieces and nephews. Frank was born on March 21st, 1935 on the family farm near Ceylon, SK. He attended school in Ceylon and Campion College in Regina, SK. It was in Regina that Frank met his soulmate Giv. In 1958, Frank and Giv moved to Moose Jaw and started their life together. Frank had four passions in life: family, faith, community, and business. Family was of the utmost importance Frank witnessed by numerous family gatherings, and travelling to follow his boys or grandkids sporting events. He was deeply rooted in the Roman Catholic faith. He was a member of the congregation, choir and held numerous volunteer positions at St. Josephs Parish – whatever needed to be done for the church Frank was there. He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Frank always felt compelled to be involved and to give back to his community, lending his tremendous leadership ability to numerous local organizations: Separate School Board in Moose Jaw, Moose Jaw Canucks, Providence Hospital, St. Anthony’s Home, Providence Place Builders and Foundation and the City of Moose Jaw committee to build the current fire halls. He was also very involved provincially and nationally having served on the board of the Canada Post, the Insurance Councils of Saskatchewan and Canadian Crop Hail Association. In June of 2017, Frank was recognized for his commitment to Catholic Health Care by receiving an Honorary Life Membership on the Providence Place Board. Frank started his business career as an insurance broker in 1958. Over his 40 years in the insurance business, he built Henderson Insurance, Henderson Hail, and created Western Agricultural Insurance Company. He was an industry icon and was recognized with an Honorary Life Membership by the Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 13th, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK. Reverend George (Varki) Thattuparampil will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, December 12th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. A come and go celebration of Frank's life will be held on Wednesday, December 13th, 2017 between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Golden Nugget Centre on the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s name may be made to the St. Joseph’s Parish Revitalization Campaign, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 3T9.
