A wonderful sister, aunt and friend, Anne Jenkins, age 87, of Sydney Mines, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford, NS.
Anne was born in Reserve Mines on March 13, 1930 to the late Cameron and Maggie Routledge and was the foster daughter of the late Cecil and Jean Jenkins of Sydney Mines. Anne came to live with the Jenkins family as a young girl at the age of 13 and remained in the family home until 2015. Anne worked most of her adult life caring for people as a CNA. Anne was a very kind and giving person.
She is survived by her oldest sister, Peggy Kyte, a resident of McGillivary Guest Home in Sydney. Also surviving is her sister, Gloria (the late Ewen) MacAulay, Sydney, and her brother, Sheldon (Alyson) Jenkins of Sydney Mines. Anne had many nieces and nephews along with a very special niece, Shelley Jenkins.
Anne was predeceased by both sets of parents, as well as siblings, Ethel, Leitha, Ellen, Roddie and Ellis. She was also predeceased by a very special friend, Shirley (Pickles) Carruthers, as well as a foster sister, Kimberly Darlene Jenkins.
Cremation has taken place with no visitation or funeral. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
At this time the family would like to thank Dr. Doug Kohlsmith and Karen Pero for their years of caring for Anne. A very special thank you also to the staff of Maple Hill Manor, who cared for Anne for 2 years with love and compassion. You will never be forgotten. To the many wonderful friends we made while Anne was in Maple Hill Manor, we so appreciated your love and kindness, you know who you are. To Heather (Carruthers) Browning, Wayne, John and Russell Carruthers as well as Treva Jardine, your visits and kindness will always be remembered. Thank you to Manning Jobes and staff of J.M.
