It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Loretta Johnston, age 86, on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Elk Court in Brookfield, where she was loved and cared for since April 22, 2013. Born in Sydney Mines on September 25, 1931, Loretta was the daughter of the late John and Ester (Dalton) Young.
She was employed for over 20 years with Reitman’s in Sydney. She had a flare for fashion, and was always perfectly put together. She was a great friend to many, always helping others who were in need.
Loretta was a devout and faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Sydney Mines.
She is survived by daughters, Susan and Donna (Rob) Dickson; grandchildren, Scott Desrochers and Janice Dickson; son-in-law, Claude Desrochers; sisters, Jeannette Boutilier and Bernadette Allan, and special friend, Grace Jones.
She was predeceased by her former husband, Reid; her daughter, Marilyn; brothers, Raymond and John, and sisters, Doris and Millie.
A Funeral Mass for Loretta will be held Friday, December 15, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Father James Oliver officiating. A reception will take place in the parish hall, following the Mass. The burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph's cemetery.
