Died Sept 15, 2017 Toronto after a long struggle with addiction. With a profound sense of sadness and loss, we said our final goodbyes to Gord on November 9th. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Gord obtained his BA in Sociology at York University and later a PhD in Criminology at Northwestern University in Chicago IL. Gifted with a brilliant mind, Gord was a lifelong student of people, politics, language, genealogy, sports, music, photography, painting, cooking, travel and debate. Gord is survived by his daughter Carey (Jeff) and granddaughter Frankie, Guelph, his son Kyle, Toronto, his father Harold West, Belleville, his sisters Beryl (Roxy) Nanton, AB and Dianne, Belleville and his brothers Bruce, Fergus and Richard (Tanya) Belleville. He was predeceased by his mother Kay (nee Millar) West. Cremation entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, Belleville, ON (toll free 1-877-256-3688).
